Deputy Head of the Mission of Japan Embassy Meets with Alzahra University Chancellor

Deputy Head of the Mission and Third Secretary of Japan Embassy met with the Chancellor of Alzahra University on May 16th, 2016 in Alzahra University. In this meeting Dr. Atrkar Roshan, Vice-Chancellor in Students Affairs; Dr. Khademi, Vice-Chancellor in Social-Cultural Affairs; and Dr. Mehran, faculty member of Educational Sciences and Psychology participated.

The Director of International Academic Collaborations (IAC) of Alzahra University welcomed the guests and gave detailed information about the university and the movie of the university was shown. Mr. Wakabayashi, Deputy Head of the Mission of Japan Embassy, mentioned his interest in Iranian Culture and language: “With the sanctions removed the exchange of human resources between Iran and Japan should be increased.”

Ms. Subata, Director of the State Department's Iran desk in Japan, mentioned the Japanese government’s policy on increasing human relations: “one of things we are trying is increasing students exchange with the aim of better knowing the two nations culture and knowledge. Nowadays there are some private girls’ universities in Japan who are trying to start academic collaborations with other countries.

The Chancellor of Alzahra University welcomed the guests and hoped that this meeting be a god head start for Iran and Japans vast academic relations; “Japanese Universities are among the priorities of Collaboration with Alzahra University because of the high rank of their academic level. Pointing to the previous negotiations with the former attaché of Japan embassy about students and professor exchange, Alzahra University is ready to offer scholarships to top Japanese students. She also mentioned that inter disciplinary courses between Alzahra and Japanese Universities are probable.”

The Director of IAC emphasized on the rich culture of the two countries and the similarities between the cultures and learning about them are necessary for the students: “since improving the international relations are among the policies of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology, Alzahra University welcomes admission of any international students.”

Dr. Mehran pointed to the MoU signed between Alzahra University and the University of WASEDA: “the context for executing the MoU is ready for the exchange of professors and students. Iranian students have a good overall picture about Japan but their information is limited. NIHU program: Islamic Area Studies uses mostly of Arab informants where the Iranian informants shine with their absence. The Cultural attaché of japan embassy can help Iranian students to learn better about the Japanese culture.”

At the end of this meeting it was agreed on the preparing the University’s brochure in Japanese so that it may help Japanese students and professors know more about Alzahra University and the guests were gifted some presents.
