Dr. Geloria Perez Salamroun, head of the International Federation of Institutions and Library Associations (IFLA), accompanied by Dr. Nafiseh Ahmad, head of National Library of Malaysia, had a trip to the country on the eightieth anniversary of the establishment of the National Library of Iran, on the morning of 25th of February 2018, visited the Central Library of Al-Zahra University. In this visit, the officials of the Central Library of the University and the head of the Faculty of Education and Psychology and professors of the Department of Information Science and Science of the University of Al-Zahra accompanied the guests.
The guests after visiting that was held with the presence of a group of national library officials and the Library and Information Society of Iran, Tehran University Library Department, Allameh Tabataba'i, Kharazmi and the officials of Iran Documentation Center (Iran Dak), had a meeting at the site of the Andishe hall at University of Al-Zahra, with Head, research deputy and a group of officials and professors at Al-Zahra University. after Al-Zahra University's introduction video, Dr Yadollah Ordoukhani, research deputy at the Al-Zahra University, presented about the university and its colleges, institutes and educational and research facilities. Then Dr. Zoya Abam, head of the Central Library of the University, introduced the history and facilities of the Central Library of Al-Zahra University. Dr. Kamran, head of the Department of Information Science and Science, Faculty of Educational Sciences, Al-Zahra University, also spoke on the educational and research activities of the group. Fatemeh Pazouki, a Ph.D. student of science and information science at Al-Zahra University, also presented articles on the importance of the IFLA Union in expanding and preserving global knowledge and promoting Iranian knowledge of information science.
Dr. Gloria Perez expressed her hope about Al-Zahra University and college professors from the University of Iran's Librarians, emphasizing the cultural richness of Iranians, expressed her hope that the influence of the rich Iranian culture will lead to greater social development in all its dimensions. Referring to the importance of libraries in the IFA's main committee, she emphasized the need for collaboration and library communication in facilitating universal access to information. she described learning ways to access information as one of the main goals of IFLA. Dr. Nafiseh Ahmad, head of the Malaysian National Library, also invited the professors to attend the IFLA Congress in 2018 in Kuala Lumpur.
Dr. Rezaei Sharifabadi, faculty member of Al-Zahra University's Department of Information Science and Science, emphasized the importance and necessity of establishing the IFLA National Commission in Iran. Also Dr. Kiani, another faculty member of the Al-Zahra University's Department of Information and Knowledge Science, pointing to the need for IFLA regional conferences in developing countries, publishes publications by librarianship professors on the problems of libraries in the region. Dr. Mirzaeean, head of the ICT Center at Al-Zahra University, pointed to the proliferation of online information and knowledge dissemination, at the risk of destroying traditional libraries. In confirmation, IFLA chairman emphasized the need for more national libraries and library associations to become involved in books and reading books.
Dr. Mollanazari, head of the Al-Zahra University, expressed her pleasure in formulating this special meeting at Al-Zahra University, hoping that the results of the talks would be useful for Al-Zahra University and other universities in Iran. she considered the University of Al-Zahra library as the heart of the university and emphasized the importance of the hearty and convenient atmosphere for creating books in students, and the efficient use of faculty and students from the university's library space and facilities.
At the end of the meeting, the chairman of the IFLA Union donated a gift to Al-Zahra University. The Al-Zahra University Memorial Award was awarded by the University management to IFLA Chair and National Library of Malaysia.
