In 1976, the course of Mathematics Teacher Training in Alzahra University first was offered by the department of Mathematics, Faculty of Basic Sciences. After the Islamic Revolution, the area of study was divided into Pure and Applied Mathematic as B.Sc. degrees. The department further offered Master and PhD degrees in 2000 and 2002 respectively. Due to the expansion of offered programs by Mathematics Department (e.g. Statistics and Computer Science programs), and qualitative enhancements of Mathematics department in 2014, the department of Mathematics separated from the Faculty of Basic Sciences and became an independent Faculty of Mathematical Science.
The Faculty research highlights include the following fields:
Functional Analysis and applications, Numerical Analysis, Statistical Inference, Optimization,
Graph Theory and application, Detailed Functions, Algebra Displacement, Sampling error and statistical inference Dynamical system, Random processes Partial differential equations ,Ordinary differential equations ,Group theory ,The geometry of the manifold ,Computational geometry ,
