The Iranian Universities Association who are member of the French Universities Association (AUF), was held on Monday morning, 22^nd of April, 2018 at the invitation of the International Science and Technology Cooperation Center of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology. Dr. Parichehr Hanachi, head of International Scientific Collaboration at Alzahra University, was also present at the meeting with Dr. Mohammad Rahim Ahmadi, a representative of Alzahra University in connection with the Association.

Dr. Salar Amoli, Deputy Minister of Science and the head of the International Center for Scientific Collaboration at the Ministry, referred to the participation of a number of Iranian universities in the Franconian Association in French as the second language in Iran after the English language. He emphasized that the development of a language means the development of the culture of that language, with 45 Persian-language seats in universities around the world, including two Persian language courses in France at the universities of Paris and Strasbourg. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs added that the Ministry of Science with the aim of expanding Persian language every year provides a significant number of scholarships and opportunities to study Persian language enthusiasts at universities around the world. He went on to highlight the main axes of academic cooperation with France, including joint supervision for graduate theses, PhD studies, joint research projects, and joint seminars and conferences, and proposed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on academic cooperation within the framework of the policy framework of Ministry of Science and Cooperation, and friendly cooperation between the two countries.

Dr. Jean Paul De ‌Gaudemar, president of the Francophone Universities Association, also expressed his pleasure in traveling to Iran, expressing his willingness to sign a memorandum of understanding and cooperation with Iranian universities. The French language university agency was formed 50 years ago with the aim of gathering universities in which the French language was taught. The agency employs 85 universities from 111 countries. One of the Agency's goals is to help train French as well as to support the courses offered in French. Alzahra University has become a union member since 2017.
