Alzahra University's International Academic Collaboration (IAC) Office hosted Dr. Ali Naji Attiyah from the University of Kufa, Engineering Faculty on Tuesday, May 8th, 2018. The meeting was attended by Dr. Parichehr Hanachi, head of IAC at the University, Dr. Mahdi Nikmanesh, head of Graduate Studies, and Dr. Jafar Bagherinejad, dean of Engineering Faculty.
Dr. Ali Naji Attiyah is a professor at the Faculty of Civil Engineering at Kufa University, who has previously been the head of the civil engineering group for seven years, and has also played a prominent role in the construction of the shrine of Amir al-Momenin Ali. The visit was held in order to negotiate an operational cooperation agreement between the two universities. The University of Alzahra and the University of Kufa signed an agreement of cooperation in 2013, which was organized as a joint seminar and presentation of the lecture.
At first the film was introduced to the university's introduction in Arabic. Then, the head of IAC at the University, welcomed the expressed interest and readiness of Alzahra University to cooperate with Kufa University. She introduced the Alzahra University as the only comprehensive women's university in the Islamic Republic of Iran, and announced the readiness of Alzahra University to admit graduate students.
Dr. Ali Naji introduced the University of Kufa, engineering Faculty and university courses. The Kufa University Engineering Department was established in 1993 and is active in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, and materials.
Then, Alzahra University director of Higher Education Affairs announced that he would be prepared to agree on engineering courses for the University of Kufa and jointly support the professors of Alzahra University and Kufa University.
Alzahra University Faculty of Engineering also expressed his interest in cooperating with Kufa University to introduce the Faculty of Engineering and the available capacities for scientific cooperation. Then the following items were discussed:
- Launch of new engineering courses at Kufa University in collaboration with Alzahra University
- Admitting graduate and postgraduate student at Alzahra University
- Planning and conducting special courses for engineering students at Kufa University
- Granting sabbaticals
- Attract researchers at the post dock stage
- A joint supervision to graduate dissertations
- Implementing a joint doctoral program and awarding a joint degree
- The exchange of professors for short-term teaching
At the end, the Faculty of Engineering and its laboratories were visited. Dr. Ali Naji assessed the capacities of the Faculty of Engineering Faculty and the laboratories for proper cooperation. After visiting the laboratories of the Faculty of Engineering, lunch was served at Terme Restaurant. Then Dr. Batul MeshkinFam, a faculty member of the Arabic University faculty, met with Dr. Ali Naji at the IAC Office and discussed the planning of Arabic language curriculum for graduate students. At the end the Alzahra University Memorial Award, was awarded to Dr. Ali Naji by the University's IAC director.
