Dr. Zahidah Ahmad Dakhil al-Taie, Cultural Attaché of Iraq Embassy in Iran, along with Ammar Sharieat, the Manager of Academic Collaboration Expansion, met with Alzahra University chancellor and vice-chancellors including Dr. Haghbin, Director of Educational Affairs; Dr. Amirkhani, Director of Cultural and Students Affairs; Dr. Marandi, Director of International Academic Affairs; and Dr. Morteza Ali, Iraqi professor of Physics department.
The meeting was started with university chancellor speech that welcomed the guests and wished a bright future for Iraq and suffered Iraqi people and also their victory over enemies of Islam and Muslims. Al-Taie later mentioned to her purpose of the visit that is to benefit from the experiences of Alzahra University, as they are going to establish a comprehensive university in Baghdad for girls, also named Alzahra. She also pointed there are two other educational centers for girls in Iraq: Training College and Vocational Education Center.
The meeting continued with a brief introduction by Dr. Haghbin about the university, faculties and more information about the departments and programs of Basic Sciences and Engineering faculties was provided by her for the guests who wanted to know more about them. She said: “Many of high technology programs are presented in Alzahra University and doctorate programs are available in 31 fields.”
As currently 20 Iraqi students are studying in Alzahra University, Cultural Attaché of Iraq Embassy inquired about university admission conditions for foreign students. Director of Educational Affairs in response referred to the five scholarship positions available for top students, while the programs in general are not tuition-free for others.
A delegation of Iraqi professors is going to visit Alzahra University in near future in order to benefit from the experience of this center in providing higher education for girls.
The meeting was concluded by giving some Persian handicrafts as a gift to the guests.
