In a meeting held in Khaje Nasir University on Tuesday January 26th, 2016; in order to accord with the strategic policy of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology which is to internationalize the Universities of Iran, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Alzahra University and Khaje Nasir University; this MoU proposes the attraction of International students, specially the students of the neighboring countries. In this meeting the chancellors, the Directors of International Collaboration’s Offices and the Vice-Chancellery of Educational Affairs of both Universities were present.
Dr. Khaki Sediq, the Chancellor of Khaje Nair University, mentioned that the International Cooperation between the Universities is one of the indexes in ranking the universities, and also the survival of the universities in international higher education is subject to more international activities and increasing the number of admitted International Students. He also pointed to the fact that Alzahra University is the priority of many Muslim, especially Shia girls to study; therefore the cooperation of two universities in order to admit joint students in the fields of Technical Engineering and Computer Sciences would led to an advancement in the number of International Students in both universities.
Dr. Ensiyeh Khazali, the Chancellor of Alzahra University, emphasized on internationalizing the universities: “Academic attraction of each university would lead to a higher gradation in world ranking and the cooperation between the two universities will certainly help to get there faster.” She also pointed to the fact that with Alzahra University’s ICARD (International Cooperation for Applied Research Development) and ICED (International Cooperation for Educational Development) research programs and joint research programs of Alzahra’s students and faculty members with international researchers all over the world, the University has ranked eighth in Geometric Rankings and added: “Internationalization in Iran and all over the world is one of the most important indexes of International Ranking. Providing appropriate solutions from both universities would lead to better execute the MoUs.”
In order to better execute the MoU and establish the majors, a joint workgroup including both university’s Vice-Chancellery of Educational Affairs, and the Directors of International Academic Collaborations Office would examine the appropriate areas of cooperation.
