A delegation including the faculty members of Malaysian National University, directing by Dr. Farid Alatas, met with Alzahra University’s Social Sciences and Economics Faculty and International Academic Collaborations Office on Saturday December 19th, 2015, in conference hall of the Faculty. Inn this meeting, Dr. Farid Alatas, Dr. Az-har Ibrahim Alavi, Dr. Mohammad Feizal Moosa, Professor Noor-al-Eini, professor Noor Aisha Abdul-Rahman, Professor Rashila Ramli and Professor Rosi Soliza Hashim from Malay Delegation and Dr. Afsane Tavasoli, the Faculty’s Deputy to the Dean in Research Affairs; Dr. Maryam Ghazi Nejad, the Director of Social Sciences Department; and Dr. Parichehr Hanachi, Deputy to the Director of International Academic Collaborations Office were present.
This meeting was held in two sessions of morning and afternoon. In the morning session the meeting was held as an assembly with the faculty members and the students of Women Studies and Social Sciences. Malay professors talked about the problems of women and sociology which was very much welcomed by the students.
In the afternoon session, first the guests introduced themselves and then Dr. Alatas gave a speech on behalf of the delegation and talked about the international activities they have done; coordinating visits from Malay University to Tehran University and Iranian Students to Malay University. He also mentioned that the delegation is ready to exchange professors and students between two universities. Professor Alatas proposed that some field trips as visiting the counterpart universities in both countries and also to hold assemblies between two universities.
After that Dr. Ghazi Nejad made a proposal of organizing some joint theorizing sessions between both Universities and it was accepted. The date and the subject of the assembly will be discussed in near future. It was also negotiated that a conference with the main theme of women and families with a joint expert panel of both universities would be held in Alzahra University before the Muscat conference in late 2016. It was also suggested that joint supervising or guiding of the MA Thesis and Doctorate Thesis would be done by the professors of both universities. Dr. Hanachi mentioned a very good point that because the Thesis done in Alzahra University are mainly in Persian Language, this joint supervision would be limited to those of only English Language and Literature department.
At the end of the meeting the delegation handed some gifts to the Faculty and the University also imparted gifts to the delegation.
