Alzahra University attends meeting with University of Poitiers, France:

Dr. Parichehr Hanachi, Director of International Academic Collaboration at Alzahra University, with Dr. Mohammad Rahim Ahmadi, Faculty Member of the French Language Department at the Faculty of Literature, on Tuesday, May 7, 2019, participated at a meeting hosted by the Vice President and Head of the University of Poitiers at the Leading House of French Cooperation at Amirkabir University. In this meeting, except for the University of Alzahra, authorities of Tehran, Amirkabir, Tarbiat Modares, Shaheed Beheshti, Kharazmi, as well as Islamic Azad University were present.

The guest delegation includes Professor Yiwu Jean, Head of the University of Poitiers, with his first deputy at the invitation of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology of Iran, with the aim of becoming acquainted with higher education in Iran during a one-day trip to Tehran at Amirkabir University of Technology, The French universities met with the presidents and university assistants. At the meeting, Dr. Ghorbani, Iran's Science Advisor in Paris, also attended.

Professor Yiwu Jean, head of the University of Poitiers, offered to collaborate on environmental projects after pleased to see the high potential of international universities in international cooperation. He also announced the readiness of his university to collaborate on virtual education.

In his follow-up meeting, the first vice president of the University of Poitiers, expressed surprise at the quality and quantity of the activities of the universities of Iran, described international cooperation as a kind of wealth for universities, and expressed his satisfaction with meeting with Iranian university officials. He then provided a description of his university: Poitier University was founded in 1431. It currently has 24,000 students in the academic, undergraduate, postgraduate and Ph.D. degrees, and has 2,300 faculty members, and has 4,000 international students from 150 countries. The University of Poitiers now has 14 colleges and research institutes that operate in five main areas of expertise:

·        Law, Economics and Management Science

·        Basic Science and Technology

·        Environmental Sciences, Sports, Health & Wellbeing

·        Humanities, Literature, Languages ​​and Art

·        Teaching and Educational Sciences and Psychology

At the end of the meeting, Dr. Motamedi, head of the Amirkabir University, said the students' statistics and the interest of Iranians to continue their studies in higher education courses, has promoted the promotion of international cooperation to improve the quality of education in universities. He expressed his hope that the pursuit of cooperation by both sides of Iran and France would take place seriously.
