Professor Alexander Dettmar Crawford Professor of the Faculty of Biological Sciences at the University of Norway On Saturday August 31st 2019 in the hall of Dr. Farzaneh delivered a lecture entitled "Translational Bio-discovery" attended by professors and postgraduate students of the Faculty of Biological Sciences of Alzahra University. He described the results of his research and his colleagues as 'use of a fish called zebrafish to test unknown drugs as a quick way to evaluate the toxic effects of new drugs on patients' bodies. His first zebrafish application was for the testing of compound drugs in 1957. The body of the fish in question is very similar to humans in terms of physiology and metabolism. Professor Crawford has been a dissertation advisor to one of the graduate students of the Faculty of Biological Sciences under the guidance of Dr. Fakhri Sadat Hosseini. Dr. Zahra Nazem Bokaii, Dean of the Faculty of Biological Sciences, Dr. Sara Gharavi, Faculty member of Biotechnology, and Dr. Parichehr Hanachi, Director of International Academic Collaborations at the University, were also present at the meeting.
After Professor Crawford's lecture, at the invitation of the Director of International Academic Collaborations of the University, a meeting was held at the Dr. Soudi’s Hall, attended by Alzahra University postgraduate professors and researchers in Biological Sciences and Professor Alexander Crawford. At the meeting, Professor Crawford's virtual teaching proposal at Alzahra University's Faculty of Biological Sciences was proposed in the next semester, and he agreed to teach virtual. In addition to Alzahra University, Professor Crawford has also worked with Tarbiat Modarres University and has come to our country to attend the Royan Research Conference.
