On Tuesday, December 3, 2024, representatives from the Committee for Women and Family Affairs of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan visited Alzahra University. This visit occurred at the invitation of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Vice-President for Women and Family Affairs and was hosted by the University’s International Academic Collaboration Affairs. The purpose of the visit was to present Alzahra University as a successful model of a comprehensive university for women.
The Committee for Women and Family Affairs in Tajikistan was established in 2006. It serves as the main entity for implementing policies aimed at achieving gender equality and protecting the rights and interests of women and families in Tajikistan. The committee's responsibilities include submitting draft legislation related to women and family affairs to the government, proposing initiatives to enhance gender equality in social and political spheres, conducting research to improve the status of women, raising awareness about women's rights and opportunities through the media, and coordinating efforts among government, public, and international institutions to support women's and family issues.
During their visit, Mr. Obidjon Shiripov and Ms. Boghigul Islamzoda, representatives of the Committee, expressed their admiration for the university's vast campus, the large student population, and the diverse fields of study available. They toured various facilities, including the art gallery, pottery workshop, and a classroom within the Faculty of Arts. They also engaged in discussions with Dr. Ahmad Abedini, the Vice-Chancellor for Research in the Faculty of Arts, as well as with students. Dr. Nadia Mahmoudi Khatir, Director of International Academic Collaboration Affairs, welcomed the guests to the life sciences laboratory, which is led by Dr. Ghodsi Mohammadi Ziarani, recognized as one of the top 1% of the most cited scientists in the world.
After their visit to the central library, the guests met with Dr. Betoul Meshkinfam, head of the Women Research Center, and other members of the center.
