Upon the establishment of the University and admission of students in Translation and Secretarial Studies, the foundations of the Social Sciences and Economics faculty were laid, too. In 1969, the current building was founded for offering Home Economics and Accounting courses and today, the faculty of Social Sciences and Economics has continued its activity as an independent faculty since 1986 offering different fields of study at all levels (i.e., undergraduate, graduate, and post-graduate).
The faculty specialized library is an archive of thousands e-books and paper books in Farsi and Latin. The faculty conference hall; research center; PhD students' rooms, and accounting lab are among the facilities available for the students.
The faculty of Social Sciences and Economics with creditable journals, pioneered in number of published journals among all Alzahra University academic centers, has taken a long step toward realizing university missions referring to education and research. These journals are: The Journal of Empirical Research in Accounting, Journal of Accounting Research, Journal of Financial Management Strategy, Journal of Brand Management, and Economic Development Policy.
